Hi! Welcome to my blog!

I am Monica Dennis, a small business owner, with over 10 years invested in the creation and building of my company, Village Works Enterprises LLC. Village Works brings culture and community together in their product – greeting card jigsaw puzzles, children’s puzzles and customized puzzles. My business partner and I started with no previous business – or jigsaw puzzle manufacturing – experience to guide us.

In addition to the business, I am also a wife of nearly nine years and mother of 2 children whose existence helped to release and energize my entrepreneurial spirit.

Other stuff about me:

• I am a member of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Inc., a group of business and professional women with the common goal of promoting excellence in business and serving the community. 
• In college I was also a member of Alpha Phi Omega, national service fraternity, so I guess it's fitting that I eventally...
• ...served in AmeriCorps (the National Peace Corps started by former President Bill Clinton) working at a social service agency for a year and helping people whose lives were disrupted due to financial crisis. 
• I spent that same year working as a chaplain intern, learning how to help individuals and their loved ones during times of stress and confusion.
• I have worked as a copy editor for a newspaper.
• I have worked first as a sales clerk, then I was asked to be assistant manager at a Dress Barn, all while I had a full-time job, thus my eventually deciding I needed to give up the part-time job.
• I get bored easily and need to keep busy.

I have over 18 years of writing and editing experience, so a blog? Good idea! So far I have had my flash fiction work published in the online flash fiction magazine, Word Riot, and some business-related pieces in several place. You can see those on my About My Writing page. I am working on a book too, but more about that on a page that's soon to come.

You know how people say, "I made a ton of money! You can too! Click here!" and you cringe and say, "Not another get-rick-quick-scheme! Somebody free us from the sales gimmicks!" Well, Bizzy Girl turned me on to this and she and I agree - if it's too easy, it's probably a trick. Fact is, this one is NOT a trick. It works like Upromise, of which I am also a member, except YOU get the money back. You're gonna shop online anyway, right? So go to this site, see if the store you shop is there, check out what the percentage back is or even find some cool specials, shop, buy, and watch the savings come back to you. You can opt to have checks mailed to you or do like me and leave it there as a forced Christmas Club account. I've only been in it for a few months and no, I haven't made whopping dough. Only about $12 so far, to be honest. But Bizzy Girl has done better in about the same amount of time and I just like the fact that I have this option. So, I just wanted to offer this to you and tell you that by you joining through me, I get benefits and when YOU send out to others and they join through you, YOU get benefits. Yeah, like a pyramid, but it works. That much I can tell you.
